Faculty - Lívia de Castro Magalhães

She has a degree in Occupational Therapy from Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais (1979), master's degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University (1987), doctoral degree in Education - University of Illinois (1995) and post-doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy - McMaster University. She is currently a full professor at the Department of Occupational Therapy at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. She is an ad hoc reviewer for the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development and for the journals Medicina (Ribeirão Preto), Cadernos de Terapia Ocupacional da UFSCar and Revista de Terapia Ocupacional da Universidade de São Paulo. She has experience in the area of Occupational Therapy, with an emphasis on developing tests and measures to assess children's development and performance, and resources for treating children with motor coordination problems. Coordinates a program to monitor the growth and development of preterm newborns and the topics of research interest are: impact of prematurity on child development, occupational therapy with children, assessment of motor development and treatment of motor coordination disorders in children.
